Thomas Oldham Barlow, engraver and etcher, was born in Manchester. He was apprenticed to a firm of engravers before moving to London. In 1849, he exhibited his first work at the Gallery of the Society of British Artists, and two years later, he began exhibiting at the Royal Academy. Currently, ithe United States, his work is part of collections within The Getty Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
